R Rathbir is the artistic identity of Rajiv Ashwin Mehta - an entrepreneur, creator and artist whose relationship with painting began long before his journey in business.

Art has been a part of his life since childhood. From winning numerous art competitions during his school years to continuing to paint alongside an entrepreneurial career spanning education, fashion and music, creativity has remained a constant thread throughout his life.

R Rathbir’s work moves between Abstract Art, Pichwai-inspired Abstraction and Devotional Abstracts. His paintings reinterpret Indian spirituality, mythology and traditional visual culture through a contemporary and instinctive language of bold forms, expressive strokes, layered textures and striking colour.

Rather than approaching devotional subjects as conventional religious imagery, Rathbir explores their energy, movement, symbolism and emotion. Traditional Pichwai elements, sacred figures, animals, mythology and abstraction often coexist within the same canvas -creating works that feel rooted in India yet distinctly contemporary.

For Rathbir, painting is not separate from his entrepreneurial life; it is another expression of the same instinct to imagine, create and build. Even through the most demanding years of his business journey, he continued to return to the canvas—often painting late into the night, driven not by profession but by an enduring passion to create.
